Wildlife Veterinary Internship

Discover what it’s like to work in a real wildlife rescue center in Costa Rica. Alongside experienced veterinarians, you’ll take part in animal care, medical examinations, rehabilitation, and the monitoring of injured wildlife before their release back into the wild.

AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE IN WILDLIFE VETERINARY MEDICINE

At the Toucan Rescue Ranch, you will join the veterinary team responsible for the treatment, rehabilitation, and medical care of injured, orphaned, or illegally trafficked wildlife.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in the daily work of a recognized wildlife rescue center in Costa Rica and discover the realities of veterinary medicine applied to wildlife.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

✓ Minimum age: 18
✓ Good command of English required
✓ Travel insurance required
✓ Up-to-date tetanus vaccination
✓ Studies in veterinary medicine or a related field
✓ Motivation and ability to work as part of a team

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?

Every day is different and depends on the animals currently in the center’s care. During our call, I’ll explain exactly how the internship works, including the schedule, daily organization, and on-call periods, so you know exactly what to expect.
